We've come here a few times in recent weeks and the place is running nearly gay same as it always has for at least a few decades, through changes in drag hosts, management and even changes to this venue's name over those years.

We tend to come just before showtime so there's normally always a cover worth it for the entertainment patrons get to seefriendly bartenders and a drag show featuring talented performers, with at least one normally interacting with patrons and doing comedy during a break in the performances, before opening up the floor for dancing once the show is complete.

Azucar isn't located near much of anything else when it comes to nightlife, it's a bit divey - definitely nothing fancy or glamorous, and it's probably not worth the drive from the beach just to check it out, as at least one other reviewer mentioned. Also, all shows and entertainment, aside from lyrics to a few songs here and there are in Spanish with no English translation, so if you club speak Spanish or have someone who can interpret at least some of the funniest bits that get the most laughs, you may not fully understand what's happening or may feel a bit left out.

That said, if you're just looking for a solid drag show or appreciate Latin nightlife, this is definitely an option. Frank C. No era lo que yo esperaba.
